The English Language Testing Society (ELT Society) is proud to announce the Teachers’ Assessment Literacy Enhancement (TALE) Project as the recipient of the inaugural Promotion of Language Assessment Literacy Award. This prestigious honor recognizes individuals and teams whose work significantly advances understanding and practice in language assessment among educators, stakeholders, and the wider community.

Led by Professor Dina Tsagari of OsloMet, the TALE Project exemplifies innovation, collaboration, and meaningful impact in the field. Supported by an international team of experts—including Iasonas Lamprianou (University of Cyprus), Karin Vogt (University of Education Heidelberg), Nicos Sifakis (Hellenic Open University), Ildikó Csépes (University of Debrecen), and Anthony Green (University of Bedfordshire)—TALE empowers teachers through tailored, research-informed training in assessment design and implementation.

At the heart of the TALE Project is a commitment to inclusivity and autonomy in language education. Through needs-based training materials, rigorous feedback loops, and the promotion of collaborative learning environments, the project ensures that both pre-service and in-service teachers are equipped to make informed, fair, and effective assessment decisions. Notably, the Handbook of Assessment for Language Teachers, a cornerstone output of the project, has become a global resource for educators seeking practical, accessible guidance.
